City Chic Trendy Plus Size Off the Shoulder Lace Dress

Are you looking for a plus size wedding guest dress for a summer wedding? Figuring out what to wear to a summer wedding can be overwhelming, so in this blog post I'm sharing my own personal faves for plus size wedding guest dresses.

In the post below, I've shared a number of plus size wedding guest outfit ideas, and I've included notes on what kind of wedding I'd wear that particular plus size dress to. After all, I'm personally not going to wear the same dress for a backyard or farm wedding as I do for a black tie summer wedding!!

Note: Before buying a new plus size wedding guest dress, do some reconnaissance to figure out what the wedding colors are. Be sure to choose something NOT in that color palette, and say away from any light colors that could show up on camera as white (mint green, blush pink, tan neutral, etc).

Some other tips for buying a plus size wedding guest dress:

• Look for fabrics that BREATHE like cotton, chiffon and some polyesters. Avoid wool, scuba knit, chambray, denim and other thick fabrics
• Plan on undergarments! Chub rub is no fun, so you might want to get some anti-chafing shorts (like THESE) to use!
• Pack a hand fan to use! Many a wedding guest has had to sweat through a summer wedding, and a fan can be so useful!!

#1 Plus Size Wedding Guest Dresses for Summer – Navy Blue A-Line Dress

First up on my list, we have this gorgeous summer plus size wedding guest dress from Eloquii. Navy blue is my go-to pick for a plus size wedding guest outfit, as navy blue can easily fit in with various wedding venues and aesthetics. If you're unsure what to wear to a wedding, a navy blue dress is a sophisticated and safe (while still lovely!) option. I like the tie front on this guest dress from Eloquii, as it adds a bit of visual interest without super noticeable.

I'd style this plus size wedding guest dress with cues from the wedding invitation. I'd wear more elegant jewelry for a more formal wedding, and I'd break out my fun and funky jewelry for a fun and funky event!

#2 Plus Size Summer Wedding Guest Dresses – Bold & Fashionable Leopard Print Dress

Next up on my guide to plus size summer wedding guest dresses, we have a bold and brilliant choice! I wouldn't wear this dress if I was a family member of the couple, as it's probably too bold to wear for family pictures that happen before or after the ceremony. BUT this is a super fun plus size wedding guest date dress, and it's super fun! I think that skirt would be a blast to dance in.

I'd style this plus size wedding guest outfit with wedge shoes as shown (love the faux straw braiding on those wedges), and I'd go with either bold gold hoops or a quirky set of red earrings to contrast the dress. A black handbag can be great, or you can swap out black for red or even a cobalt Mediterranean blue!

Following that bold print, we have this lilac purple plus size summer wedding guest dress. To me, this wedding guest outfit is perfect for a wedding in a garden or other outdoor venue. Like I shared above, you want to be sure *not* to wear a plus size outfit that is in the same color palette as the official wedding colors.

Luckily you can also get this plus size wedding guest dress in black! It *is* available in a blush pink, but I wouldn't wear that to a wedding. Visually, blush pink is just too close to white! Not a good call, overall.

If you're headed to a wedding where everyone is on trend and super fashionable, then I would consider this plus size wedding guest dress! (I wouldn't wear this to a more conservative or traditional ceremony.) OK, so fun fact! I own this yellow floral print dress from Eloquii, and I get *so many* compliments on it! I haven't worn yellow in YEARS, and literally have only started buying yellow in 2022!! This plus size dress is the perfect plus size wedding dress guest outfit for a fun outdoor summer wedding in the sun! Plus, the hemline and sleeves make this dress super duper fun to wear!

I wear it with fun and bold statement gold earrings (kind of like the model pictured), with a bold lip. You can go white shoes as pictured, or follow my lead and go with a pink chunky sandal. (I'm a maximalist, what can I say!?)

Ok, let's talk about to wear to a more upscale or formal summer wedding! Some summer weddings have the ceremony take place later in the day — say on a rooftop bar or the top of a historic building — and you may not want to break out the bold and fun colors of a summer palette for these occasions.

Alright, my darlings! We've come to the end of my guide to plus size summer wedding guest dresses! I'm finishing up my list with this super breezy and gorgeous dress from City Chic USA. I can see this being super fun to wear and dance in, while also not being too hot (see this sheerness of the sleeves at the arm?) while also providing a bit more sun protection. I'm all about it!

I love how City Chic USA styled this dress with brown faux leather heels for a day wedding, and I'd swap those out for black or a burgundy for an evening summer wedding!
